Difference between nach and After - False cognates Lesson 5 Learn German...

Check out lesson 5 of Accelerate German Level A1

In this lesson it is important to remember that "Das ist..." means "that is..." and "this is..."

Do you know how to say that is Mr. Master Yoda in German?
- Das ist Herr Meister Yoda.

Other important phrases from this lesson

Ich bin... - I am
Mein Vorname ist... - my first name is...
Mein - my
Vorname - Firstname
Mein Nachname ist... - My last name is...

The words Vorname and Nachname are usually difficult to remember for beginners, but in this lesson I explain an easy way to remember these nouns.

The easiest way to remember these two words is:

1. Vorname is a word which is made out of two parts:
-"Vor" which means "in front of" or "before"
    -Name - name
Vorname literally means the name that is in front.

2. Nachname is also a word which is made out of two parts:
   - "Nach" means After in German
   - "Name" - name
Nachname literally means the name that is after the name.

So, the correct answer is: Yes, German can be learnt easily if you know how to learn it.

VERY IMPORTANT

DON'T CONFUSE THESE TWO WORDS!!!

FALSE FRIEND NACH and AFTER

In German "Nach" means after, and the word "After" in German means "Anus".
If you are talking to a person in German and you in the moment you forget how to say after, don't say the English word for after, because you can get really misunderstood.
